It’s being reported that Marseille will finally make a bid for Moussa Dembele before the transfer window closes on Friday. The French side have been considering a move for the Celtic striker all summer and have missed out on a host of transfer targets.

 

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful of signing another centre-back with West Brom defender Gareth McAuley tipped for a move to Ibrox. Gerrard has also dismissed claims he is trying to sign Ryan Gauld from Sporting Lisbon or Nathan Dyer from Swansea.

 

Hearts are close to bringing back Demetri Mitchell to the club. Manager Craig Levein wants to strengthen his defence after injuries to John Souttar and Aaron Hughes.

 

Celtic are also looking to strengthen their defence as Dedryck Boyata is still expected to leave. They are reportedly looking into a loan deal for Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic. He joins Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna and Le Havre’s Harold Moukoudi on a list of potential reinforcements. That said, Brendan Rodgers says he wants to keep Boyata after the Belgian international scored on his return against Hamilton at the weekend.

Kenny Dalglish says it would be a scandal if the national team was moved from Hampden. The SFA’s seven-person board meet on Wednesday to decide the fate of the national stadium.

 

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock’s Stephen O’Donnell and Kansas City’s Johnny Russell are both expected to remain in the Scotland squad that will face Belgium and Albania.

 

Scott Brown says talks between himself, Brendan Rodgers and Dedryck Boyata helped to clear the air and aided the defender’s return to the team.

 

St Johnstone are close to signing 18-year-old Ipswich Town midfielder Tristan Nydam on loan. It comes after the teenager dropped out of the reckoning at the English Championship club since Paul Hurst replaced Mick McCarthy as manager.

 

Ross County are ready to sign Danny Swanson, who will be allowed to leave Hibernian before the transfer deadline on Friday, with Dundee also interested in the 31-year-old midfielder but eyeing a move for Celtic left-back Calvin Miller on loan as a priority.

 

Celtic’s Europa League qualifier opponents Suduva have revealed that Kazakh head coach Vladimir Cheburin and three key players – Serbian stopper Aleksandar Zivanovic, Montenegrin midfielder Jovan Cadenovic and Belarusian defender Vital Hayduchyk – may not be able to travel to Scotland to face Celtic in the second leg of their Europa League play-off because of visa problems.

 

Steven Gerrard offered to shoulder the blame for Motherwell’s injury-time equaliser at Fir Park if his decision to put on Lee Wallace as a late substitute led to the goal.
